Joanna says: "It has lovely aromas of spice, orange pomander, blood orange, camomile and dried peach and a mouth-filling, dry palate with dried-apricot fruitiness balanced by the lively freshness of green tea."
 
She drank it "with straccetti di manzo con rughetta e parmigiano – strips of steak tossed in olive oil then quickly seared and served on rocket with shavings of parmesan – and with a salad of confit de gésiers de canard (duck gizzard – it always sounds more appetising in French) and it was good with both. It could equally well be served with spicy roast vegetable dishes, miso baked fish, an extensive meze, roast pork or lamb chops."

Boscopiano is quite unique, something different, a wine that at the same time as honouring local traditions and craftmanship, embraces innovation. Typical of the Frappato grape in colour, it is ruby red with lovely purple reflections. The nose is a whirlwind of red fruits, spices, floral notes, oranges and almonds. On the palate there are notes of ginger and blood oranges. Succulent and gentle, it is extremely elegant, with a long finish.

We are happy to share the news that our Santa Tresa Insieme (Bianco) Orange Terre Siciliane IGP 2022 has received an excellent accolade: it has been awarded the GOLD MEDAL at the Mundus Vini – Summer Tasting 2023, the 33rd Grand International Wine Award in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in Germany.

Our orange wine brings together Inzolia and Zibibbo organic grapes to create a delicious, fruity and fresh wine.

A beautiful unique orange colour. On the nose there are notes of grapefruit, lemons, with hints of spice, balsamic, white pepper and mint. On the palate there is an excellent structure, with lovely fruit flavours, all supported by good balancing acidity, giving it an attractive freshness.

Orisi is one of the so-called Sicilian relic grape varieties, which were recovered thanks to an ambitious project in Sicily, in which Santa Tresa played an important role.
The goal was to recover the native Sicilian varieties and register new regional clones.
We are very excited about this project as it will help protect the biodiversity of Sicilian wine regions.

Avulisi is produced with the best grapes from the Santa Tresa estate, from our oldest vineyards, planted in 1964.
A beautiful single vineyard, meticulously cared for, Avulisi has extremely low yields that do not exceed 30 hl/ha, guaranteeing grapes rich in fine aromas and flavours.
Avulisi has a multifaceted character, expressing the pure style of Nero d'Avola.

"Intense and spicy nose with very rich and ripe berries and mineral notes. Full, round and silky on the palate with many fruity and savory flavors covering the well integrated and fine-grained tannins. The acidity is perfect and gives freshness to the finish long. These are the words of the journalist Lara Loreti, from La Repubblica, who named our Santa Tresa Insieme Nero d'Avola Sicilia DOC 2021 the wine of the week!
 
But what is the wine of the week? How is it chosen?
The wine of the week is 'found' through a journey around Italy and all over the world through tasting and discovering the best that the earth can offer us, in search of exciting stories, special labels, current issues from vineyards and cellars.
We are really proud to have received this accolade because "Insieme" absolutely represents our wish to produce a totally natural wine, from the grape to the bottle. The result is genuinely different. Made from the quintessential Sicilian red grape Nero d'Avola, Insieme has a real purity of flavour and is the essence of Sicily.

On 10th December we featured on Studio Aperto MAG, the daily news programme on Italia 1. Presenter Tiziana Sapienza interviewed Stefano Girelli, owner of Santa Tresa, together with his sister Marina to talk about Orisi, the “relic” vine, which has been brought back to life on our estate.
For us has been a real privilege to be able to tell our story of how we brought this ancient vine back to life, starting from only 16 plants, arriving today with 1523 vineyards.
